Platelet Rich Plasma, PRP Treatment

Platelet-rich plasma is a concentrate of a patient’s own blood. In order to get this concentrate, the blood is drawn from the patient and then spun down in a centrifuge as the portion of the blood with the platelets and growth factors is separated out. The platelet-rich plasma contains three to five times more platelets, growth hormones and active proteins that could be used for tissue and injury healing. After the separation process is complete, the platelet-rich plasma is then injected back into the patient and could be used for multiple reasons.

Platelet-rich plasma has a great healing potential, as it harnesses the power of platelets and growth factors from your blood to stimulate a stem cell response. These new stem cells help you grow new collagen and blood vessels, repair and rejuvenate damaged tissue and helps slow and reverse the signs of aging.

Dr. Nestor can use PRP for the following procedures:

Vampire FaceLift®

In this procedure, PRP is applied, typically with filler. When the PRP is placed back in the skin using a micro needle, it initiates a localized stem cell response over the weeks and months following treatment. This stem cell response recruits collagen-producing cells called fibroblasts. The fibroblasts replace tissue that has been damaged or lost through the aging process with healthy skin that looks refreshed and rejuvenated.

PRP Hair Restoration

PRP has been shown to accelerate wound healing and tissue repair and is thought to potentially benefit hair rejuvenation.

Musculoskeletal Disorders

PRP can be used in the treatment of various musculoskeletal disorders, such as:

– Tendonitis
– Ligament strains
– Muscle strains
– Osteoarthritis of joints
– Intervertebral discs

Stress Incontinence and Sexual Dysfunction

It is estimated that between 30 and 40 percent of all women experience some symptoms of stress incontinence and/or female sexual dysfunction. Incontinence is the involuntary excretion of bowel contents, which could often surface after childbirth, as the process of giving birth can weaken the tissues around the bladder. Female sexual dysfunction can appear at any age and often presents itself as a lack of sexual pleasure or even pain during intercourse. Unfortunately, in the past, the treatments for these conditions have been unsatisfactory, expensive and with potential side effects.
